Urban Explorer #3

How did you get started with urban exploration?

During a previous relationship, I went urban exploring for the first time, starting with 'Doel' in Belgium and then trying other locations.

What was the first location you explored?

Doel.

What attracts you to abandoned buildings and locations?

The history, time stands still there and yet sometimes it feels like someone could come home at any moment.

Do you have a favorite urbex location? If so, which one and why?

We once visited an old farmhouse, I don't remember the exact name anymore.

What's your most memorable experience during urban exploring?

An old farmhouse where everything was still there, from chairs to plates on the table. Nature had taken over this farmhouse and it created a beautiful scene.

What equipment do you always take with you during your explorations?

As little as possible to get into places easily ;)

Have you ever experienced dangerous situations while urban exploring?

No

How do you prepare for an urbex adventure?

I'm not very good at this, fortunately I never go alone and we figure it out together.

What are the most important safety measures you take while urban exploring?

-

Have you ever asked for permission to explore a location? If so, how did that go?

Once at a church, I think. It was right next to someone's front door. The person there didn't mind.

What are the biggest challenges you encounter during urban exploring?

Spiders, I hate spiders. And occasionally having to climb and crawl through small openings.

How do you handle the ethical aspects of urbex, such as respecting property and privacy?

I completely agree with this. Take photos, look around, and move on.

What are your tips for beginning urbexers?

Leave the locations as they are. This tells the most beautiful stories.

How do you document your discoveries? Do you use photography or video, for example?

I take photos.

Have you ever found anything unexpected or unusual while urban exploring?

No, this hasn't happened to me yet
