Urban Explorer #1

How did you get started with urban exploration?

I started urban exploration out of curiosity about abandoned buildings and the stories they tell. The idea of discovering hidden places really appealed to me.

What was the first location you explored?

My first location was an abandoned factory near where I lived. It was exciting and a bit scary, but it gave me a huge adrenaline rush.

What attracts you to abandoned buildings and locations?

The history and stories these places tell. Each building has its own unique charm.

Do you have a favorite urbex location? If so, which one and why?

Finding an old, abandoned library full of dusty books.

What equipment do you always take with you during your explorations?

A flashlight, gloves, sturdy shoes, a camera, a first aid kit, and water.

Have you ever experienced dangerous situations while urban exploring?

Yes, I once fell through a rotten floor. Fortunately, I wasn't injured, but it was a good lesson in being cautious.

How do you prepare for an urbex adventure?

I do thorough research about the location, make sure I have the right equipment, and tell someone where I'm going.

What are the most important safety measures you take while urban exploring?

Always go with a partner, wear protective clothing, and never enter unstable structures.

Have you ever asked for permission to explore a location? If so, how did that go?

How do you handle the ethical aspects of urbex, such as respecting property and privacy?

I strictly follow the rule 'take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints'. Respect for the location and its history comes first.

What are your tips for beginning urbexers?

Start with safe, well-documented locations and never go alone. Learn from experienced urbexers and always respect the location.

How do you document your discoveries? Do you use photography or video, for example?

I mainly take photos and keep a small logbook of the locations I've visited.

Have you ever found anything unexpected or unusual while urban exploring?

I once found a completely intact classroom from the 1960s, complete with teaching materials and blackboards.
